Undercurrent
Over the last few years the YAA have faced the ongoing editorial and functional dilemma around ‘Grapevine’ where there was uncertainty as to whether it was a ‘news’ update, a ‘project ‘report for the YAA projects, a ‘big picture’ policy forum or a resource for sector and practice development. At various times it was perhaps either all of these or some of these and with varying degrees of success as it tried to be all things to all people.

To remedy this we have rebranded the printed journal with a title taken from
the YAA / youth sector past “Undercurrent”. This publication will have a specific policy / sector and practice development focus and we have already began producing the Grapevine as a regular e-news update. The initial aim is to produce the Undercurrent in a bi-annual format journal produced by the Youth Accommodation Association.

The Aim
The Undercurrent's focus is on addressing the problems of youth homelessness in Australia and seeking an academic and practical dialogue regarding the best approaches for the future.

Cost
A single subscription to the Undercurrent is free to YAA members. Additional copies and single subscriptions for non members are available for $44 (inc GST) per annum.

Getting Involved
YAA is now taking expressions of interest for the Undercurrent Review Committee that will be responsible for provide guidance and advice, offer expertise and to assist the development of each edition by reviewing content.
The committee is open to a broad range of individuals with expertise in a wide range of areas (see membership). The Undercurrent Committee does not have any Governance role for the Undercurrent project.

Interested individuals must be willing to commit to participation in teleconference/meetings associated with the planning and review process. It is expected that individuals will also participate by reading and submitting comments on articles submitted to YAA for the Undercurrent. Positions are on a voluntary basis.
